Ashburn Anti-inflammatory, Anti-Tumor (and more) Healing with Frankincense and Myrrh

Frankincense and myrrh, two esteemed gifts obtained from the gum resins of trees - the Boswellia and the Commiphora, respectively – make amazing healing partners! Both have been incorporated throughout history in perfume, incense, aromatherapy, and medicine, especially Chinese medicine. Their anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, and more assets tackle issues with a variety of health conditions, many that Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn knows afflict our Ashburn chiropractic patients and/or loved ones who may want to understand better!

THE COMBINATION: Frankincense and Myrrh

Chinese medicine admires frankincense and myrrh for their extensively positive health effects. Used together, their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and significantly for anti-tumor effects prevented growth of U266 multiple myeloma cells. (1) In Chinese medicine, frankincense-myrrh are components of an anti-tumor drug for a variety of cancers with recent research presenting its effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). How? By controlling pathological processes like cytokine-receptor binding and pathways and targeting the blood vessels that serve tumors in HCC. Tumor volume was reduced, and pathological structure was diminished with frankincense and myrrh treatment. (2) Low dose frankincense/myrrh controlled urotheilial wound healing to improve symptoms of acute interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome.  (3) The frankincense/myrrh comination proves itself to be a winning/healing one!

NEUROPATHIC PAIN

Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn welcomes combinations of treatments to help our Ashburn chiropractic patients looking for healing. Chinese medicine treats diabetic neuropathy, a critical problem of diabetes and trigger of kidney disease, by controlling pathways having to do with the glucose/lipid metabolism regulation, antioxidation, anti-fibrosis, anti-inflammation, etc. (4) Chinese medicine treatment of neuropathic pain commonly involves the frankincense-myrrh combination as it is explained as having the ability to stimulate blood and dissipate blood stasis. The frankincense-myrrh treatment was tested and found to ease neuropathic pain likely related to neuro-inflammatory agents TLR4 and MyD88 and to inhibition of TRPV1 and inflammatory factor expression. (5). Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn knows all this detail may not be “up your alley” of wanting to understand as in depth as this, but we want to share the whole picture if only to get to the point that frankincense-myrrh eases neuropathic pain, a great result!
