B vitamins. There are many B vitamins. Some are becoming
stars in the Ashburn bone health and even Ashburn back
pain relief areas. Aging, osteoporosis, back pain, and
related fractures are a handful of the causes. Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn
shares new research supporting the
testing of B vitamin levels and addressing any low
levels with diet and supplementation as applicable.
AGING, OSTEOPOROSIS, FRACTURE, VITAMIN B
We are aging. We’re not alone in it.
Globally, aging is growing. Along with aging comes the growth of osteoporotic
fracture incidence and morbidity, mortality, and cost related to those
fractures. It is quite an unpleasant cycle!
Preventing osteoporosis and improving the health of bone is a fair
goal when considering aging. Dietary modification has been shown good as has supplementing
with B vitamins. Recent researchers wrote
that support continues to grow
for the possible protective role of B vitamins particularly
B2, B6, folate (B9), and B12 for bone health. Research mentioned
that eating vitamin B enriched foods is one way to go to contain
any unwanted effects of high-dose B vitamin supplementation. (1) It’s important to get the right blend of B
vitamins to be optimal for bone health. Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn will collaborate
with you to discover what’s best for you and your
bones.
BONE, BMD, HIP FRACTURE, VITAMIN B
For a long time, Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn has read
about the suggestions of Vitamin B for bone health, and the latest
review article of 29 studies supports testing and supplementation of B vitamins.
14 studies reported that blood tests showing low
serum levels of folate (vitamin B9) are signs of risk for decreased
bone mineral density (BMD) and fractures in older people, particularly
women. Taking folate vitamin B9
(500mcg-5mg a day) improved BMD in another study. Taking B6 reduced
the risk of hip fracture. These findings lead the researchers to
propose that checking folate and homocysteine blood levels in
elderly patients with osteopenia/osteoporosis is crucial. They even
go so far as to write it is mandatory. (2) Vitamin B
is important for Ashburn bone health!
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY BENEFIT OF VITAMIN B
B vitamins may well be a link in managing inflammatory
chemicals through homocysteine control, methylation, decreasing
CRP, etc. The roles of B vitamins – thiamine, pyridoxine, and cyanocobalamin –
in back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders lean toward being anti-inflammatory,
anti-nociceptive, neuroprotective, and neuromodulatory. (3) Big words. Big
concepts. Big deals. Poulin Chiropractic of Herndon and Ashburn offers that these effects are helpful
in managing back pain, musculoskeletal pain, and issues affecting bone and spine health via nutrition.
