Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
As a parent, you want care for your child that is gentle, thoughtful, and centered on their needs. Two new studies published in September 2026 provide a more detailed look at why families bring children to the chiropractor and how parents feel about their experience.
WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC
A research team in Australia and Canada analyzed visits by 605 young people, age 17 and younger, seen by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for coming in in each age group, suggesting that many families view chiropractic as an important part of keeping their kids healthy and active. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and teens made up nearly half of all visits. That makes sense: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long hours at screens all place real demands on young spines.
PARENTS FEEL HEARD AND RESPECTED
A second study tracked 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents evaluated three areas of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the warmth and respect offered by the chiropractor and office team. Overall, parents described favorable experiences in all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In short, parents felt listened to, part of the decision-making, and treated kindly, which means so much when the patient is your child.
